viewsUSS C95 is a proprietary restricted yield strength steel grade, specifically designed for use in sour condensate wells where resistance to sulfide stress cracking (SSCC) is crucial. This steel grade is manufactured with precise controls over chemical composition, heat treatment, and hardness levels to ensure optimal performance in demanding environments.
The yield and tensile strengths of USS C95 provide a balance of strength and ductility, suitable for applications requiring high resistance to deformation and failure. The hardness levels ensure the steel's resistance to wear and abrasion.
Inspection requirements and dimensional tolerances for USS C95 adhere to the API 5CT standard for grade T95. The performance properties are equivalent to those of API grade T95, with additional considerations for SSCC resistance.
Hardness testing for USS C95 is conducted in accordance with API T95 standards, with modifications to the frequency of testing for casing and non-upset tubing (first and last, and every tenth joint in between) and upset tubing (first and last, and every 25th joint between).
SSCC testing is not mandatory for every order of USS C95 to reduce lead times; however, it can be performed upon customer request, following U.S. Steel Standard Mill Practice P-1004 (NACE Standard TM-0177, Method A), with a guaranteed minimum threshold stress of 85% of the specified minimum yield strength.
