Here are some types of API insert pumps:
- RHB API insert pumps
These pumps have a heavy-walled, stationary barrel, and are bottom hold-down pumps.

These pumps have a thin-walled, stationary barrel, and are bottom hold-down pumps. They are most often used in shallow to moderate depths where there is little chance of sand accumulation.
- RHA API insert pumps
These pumps have a heavy-walled, stationary barrel, and are top anchor pumps. They are suitable for moderate depths with high sand fallback on well shutdown.
Seating options for API insert pumps include mechanical or cup types. Mechanical types simplify well maintenance and do not require repair unless major damage has occurred. Cups, on the other hand, should be replaced every time the pump is unset.
